1) I received the first half of my book advance (yay!) which is taking me a good ways towards stabilizing myself financially, if I budget right. Hopefully, I should be re-housed in no time!
2) I met Jon (Beat On The Street) yesterday for the first time. We’ve been online friends for nearly a year, but it was great to finally meet him face-to-face! He’s as crazy, funny and Irish as I would expect! We met with another group of homeless activists, Camden Calling, to discuss a project that Jon is putting together for this year. More news on that to come soon, hopefully!
Other than that, I think I’m going to lay low for a week or so. Some personal matters have come up and I need to take a bit of a sabbatical to deal with that, and also to work more on the book. So don’t be surprised if you don’t hear from me for a brief bit.

Nothing better than a couple bucks in the bank! Congrats.
I have been following your site weekly since the article was printed on Yahoo about your letter to E. Jean. I admire your strength and courage and how you show everyone that you are a “normal” person who just doesn’t have a home at the moment (soon though, hopefully). I am so excited to hear that you finally received your advance! Good luck with everything!
ditto from me. dawn said it perfectly.
Fantastic, that is the best ever. So many don’t understand how close to the edge of recovery we homeless can be.
Me, got my SS Award letter BUT they say I have an overpayment. Can’t be. But will take my cks until Oct. 2011. Yes, Even Soc. Sec. is confused about it. I will loose my car, cell phone and laptop with internet. All I have left.
I am a homeless Realtor(cost to work).
I was just on the edge of getting out of this and NOW, I am just weeks away from loosing everything, STORAGE with all my son’s photos and precious memories.
I just with SOME entity could realize how to help us and let us help THEM in return.
Fantastic news for you. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you guys so much!
Terry Ann, that’s terrible! Can you argue the overpayment ruling? At one point I was told something similar from the IRS (for my taxes from about three years ago, no less!), was given the option of fighting it and won.
Where are you located? Is there any way any of us can help? Perhaps hook you up with some resources? Feel free to PM me (my info is under the “Contact” tab).
